Tabata Timer Tutorial

What is Tabata Interval Training?

Tabatas are a method of interval training where you alternate 20 seconds of exercise with 10 seconds of rest done for eight cycles in this fashion.

You can read all about tabatas here: tabata-weight-blast-workouts

The first thing to do is make sure the settings are correct if they’re not defaulted to the standard numbers. Traditional Tabatas are:

  • 8 sets
  • 20 seconds exercise
  • 10 seconds rest

  • That equals one full Tabata cycle.

In the timer, you can select in the top right of the box the “timer settings” here:

In the settings you can edit the interval timings:

The different stages are:

  • Prepare = so you can put your phone or device down before the exercise starts
  • Exercise = the time that you’ll perform the exercise
  • Rest = the time interval that you’ll rest between exercise sets
  • Recovery = the rest interval between cycles
