When the demands of domestic life and stale training routines stalled his progress, life-long lifter Steve Weiger found a new path to his goals in JimStoppani.com

I Found My Passion for Fitness at an Earlier Age than Most

I'd always been active, but I truly started on my fitness journey when I was 15 years old. My parents bought me a weight set and bench so I could train in our basement. I wanted to fit in with my peers, I played football—but that was short-lived. I just enjoyed training and bodybuilding, learning about things by reading Muscle & Fitness and Flex magazines. It became a lifestyle. Eventually I outgrew the weight set and joined a hardcore gym training alongside guys twice my size.

Adulthood

My Love of Training Stayed With Me Into Adulthood

I continued training well into my college years, and kept reading up on bodybuilding. I'd see the pro bodybuilders in the magazines and emulate them. I'd try to eat what they ate, use their supplements. I continued to educate myself about diet and training as best I could.

Progress came easy back then, because I was still young. I made gains in strength and size, to where I entered a few natural bodybuilding shows to test myself and actually did pretty well.

Middleage

Family Life and Middle Age Slowed My Fitness Progress to a Crawl

Fast-forward to my 30s and 40s: I continued training, but it got harder to put on muscle and gain strength. Had a family, with two kids, and a job that put me on the road a lot. I had to focus on those things now. So I struggled trying to adapt to that lifestyle and still find time to train. By that point, I basically worked out just to stay in decent shape.

I wasn't that overweight, but I felt like I just wasn't reaching the goals I'd set for myself anymore. I kept training, kept trying different workouts, supplements, and diets I'd read about—I was lacking that physical and mental focus I used to have. My training got stale.

Upended

Everything I Thought I Knew Was Completely Up-Ended

I was shopping online for a blended protein powder when I found Pro JYM. I saw Jim's pic on the page and decided to read up on him. I went to his website, and there it was—exactly what I'd been looking for. It's a treasure trove of information, a comprehensive website and app with all the info I needed.

After years of trying one random training regimen or diet after the next, I learned I had to balance consistency with consistent change to keep my progress going.

Age Is Just a Number, Not a Limitation

Most people, in and out of the gym, have a hard time believing I'm as old as I am. I stay dedicated and consistent because I'm consistently motivated by the results I'm still getting from Jim's programs. Daily Grind has definitely had the biggest impact, but I've done so many others—Down and Up Mass, Back and Fourth, Strong in 8, Super Shredded 8...I can't wait to get to the gym each morning at 5 a.m..

Going forward, I'm excited each day to rise and tackle what comes at me, whether it's a killer workout or one of life's challenges. My fitness path is always evolving and moving me forward because that's exactly what Jim's methods are designed to do. They're practical, they fit into my lifestyle, and they're sustainable. I've found the balance I need to finally reach my goals again.
