This JYM Army Member Dropped 22 Pounds Without Obsessing Over the Scale

Keri Fikar's six-month transformation wasn’t about quick fixes—it was about consistency, discipline, and trusting the plan.
At the start of 2024, Keri Fikar did what many people do: She stepped on the scale to size up the damage from the holidays.
But what she saw staring back wasn’t just a number she didn’t like. It was a wake-up call.
“I realized I wasn’t happy with those numbers,” Keri says. “I decided it was time to make a change—not just for the scale, but for how I felt in my own skin.”
And change she did.
In just six months, Keri dropped 22 pounds, gained visible muscle definition, and—more importantly—found a groove with both her training and nutrition that’s now fully integrated into her life.
Keri’s not a fitness model or influencer.
She’s a regular person who made a decision… and then followed through on it.
She kicked off the year with Shortcut to Shred , then rolled into Full Body Fire , followed by Shortcut to Size , and then dove headfirst into the Super Shredded 8 (SS8) Challenge.
After finishing SS8, she looped back into Full Body Fire again, hungry for more progress.
“It feels like a loop,” she says, “but each round teaches me something new about workouts, recovery, and consistency.”
Keri followed every plan to the letter—including the diet.
She cycled in her JYM supplements as directed— Pre JYM, SS8 Advanced Fat Burner , Omega JYM , Vita JYM , Post JYM , and Pro JYM . She dropped dextrose ( Post JYM Fast Carb ) during the carb-cutting phases of SS8, occasionally subbing in a handful of gummy clusters post-workout.
“Cutting carbs was brutal,” she says. “My love affair with cheesy mashed potatoes made every low-carb meal feel like a sacrifice.”
But the sacrifice was worth it.
She pushed through the tough days, even when the scale didn’t move. “Working out, eating perfectly clean, and not seeing rapid changes can be discouraging,” says. “But I reminded myself: Focus on the process, not just the numbers.”
Keri credits much of her consistency to two things: the support of her husband (both in the gym and the kitchen), and her own competitive streak.
“I hate losing—even to my dessert cravings,” she says.
When progress felt slow, she focused on the small wins: faster reps, heavier weights, tighter clothes, and muscles popping in her arms, shoulders, and abs.
“When strangers say to me, ‘You look like you work out!’—that feels incredible,” Keri says. “It means my discipline shows.”
Keri doesn’t pretend it was easy. But six months in, the hard work has paid off—and she’s just getting started.
Here’s what she’d tell anyone just beginning their journey:
“This has become a habit I love,” she says. “Now, I’m experimenting with recipes to make low-carb meals exciting. And my next goal is simple: more muscle, and more joy in the process.”
Because at the end of the day, Keri didn’t just lose weight—she gained a lifestyle.
