An injury in combat in Afghanistan didn't stop him from getting back in shape, getting stronger, and shedding pounds of bodyfat through proper programs, nutrition, and supplements.

My goal for my fitness journey started eight years ago after I was injured by an IED (improvised explosive device) in Afghanistan (Helmand Province).

It took me time to adjust to the outcome and learn how lucky my body was, and I wanted to achieve greater things even when recovering from a fractured heel bone.

I've been going at it ever since to improve my physique and feel better about myself and what happened. After a year, I started taking more and more of an interest in my body fat and body weight, but that wasn’t my main goal at the start.

Over the last 12 weeks, I have been following the Shortcut to Shred program and taking it very strict by cutting out alcohol and my late-night trips to the nearest KFC or Micky D's.

The most measurable result with doing this program was around the waist area, as I lost body fat around my stomach area. When I started, I was at 13.6 percent body fat, weighing 182 pounds, and bench-pressing 220 pounds max. By the end of 12 weeks, I cut down to 11.3 percent body fat and weighed around 175 pounds while pushing out six reps at 260 pounds.

I used the Shortcut to Shred nutrition plan, and to help achieve my results I also used JYM products: Pre JYM, Post JYM, and Pro JYM. I especially like Pro JYM, since in the evenings I love munching my way through the cupboards. But it stopped all that.

The major lifestyle change I had to make was to reduce my carb intake to match the intake in the nutrition plan in Shortcut to Shred. Not drinking on the weekend took a lot of willpower.

The biggest key, I think, to achieve this was my determination to overcome pain even when you want to stop. The toughest obstacles I found was cutting my body fat down and not giving into my cravings for that burger or fries on the weekend.

The feedback ever since I’ve been on this program has shot through the roof, with friends and family asking what I've been doing and what I'm taking.

But all I say to everyone is, stick to the Shortcut to Shred program and you will see results.

If I can give any advice for anyone who wants results like this it would be: No matter how big or small your goal is, the end result won’t come overnight. It’s not a sprint, it's a marathon.
