Bill Janke

One of the most dramatic transformations the JYM Army has ever seen was accomplished by this Wisconsin resident.

Bill Janke

My name is Bill Janke and I'm from De Pere, Wisconsin. My journey started on July 10, 2014, when I went to the hospital with a sleep apnea injury. My "ah-ha" moment came when I stepped on the scale and saw that I weighed 423 pounds! How did I let myself get like this?

Then the reality sank in that I was 31 years old and my obesity and destructive lifestyle was going to possibly send me to an early grave. I decided right then and there that I wanted to make a lifestyle change that would hopefully get me out of the hole that I had dug myself into for over 25 years.

Because I was almost immobile, the first thing I did was limit my calories to around 3,000 per day. With just that caloric deficit, I lost over 75 pounds in three months without any real structured program. At that point, I felt comfortable enough to start a light exercise routine. Since I weighed just under 350 pounds, I found that water aerobics was an exercise that was not only enjoyable, but combined both cardio and strength training in an environment that would not put added stress on my joints.

After several months of water aerobics and seeing even more weight come off, I began reading every nutritional article I could get my hands on. I educated myself about nutrition and how the body responds to the different macronutrients that you fuel it with. I felt like I was ready to challenge myself with weight training. I started with a basic routine with bare-minimum weights and concentrated more on correct form than weight.

I struggled with some of the exercises and wanted to give up many times. But my driving force to live and accomplish my goals are what made me push myself to not give up every time I was ready to throw in the towel.

The more I read about nutrition and exercise programs, there was one name that kept coming up: Jim Stoppani. I thought to myself, “This guy must be the real deal!” It was Jim's articles that I kept coming back to, and I realized that they actually made sense and worked for me.

I eventually modified my diet slightly to align with Jim's Dieting 101 and found that the science behind the diet was effective and sustainable. Right around this time, I started exercising with a longtime friend; he mentioned he had just started using Jim Stoppani's programs and asked if I would join him while he was in the middle of the Super-Man program. Together, we've completed Super-Man, Jim's Giant Program, Six Weeks to Sick Arms, and The Daily Grind.

When I had lost a significant amount of weight, I started tracking my body-fat percentage. In my first test in December of 2015, I was around 25 percent. I decided to set a goal to be at or below 10 percent body fat and less than 170 pounds by my two-year weight loss start date. Between HIIT sessions, outdoor fun activities, and using Jim's programs, I was able to achieve both of my goals! Exactly two years to the day after stepping on the scale at the doctor's office knocking at death's door, I clocked in at 168 pounds and had 9.8 percent body fat. I lost 255 pounds in exactly two years!

Then I decided I wasn't quite done yet and wanted to achieve more. I set another goal to be at or below 7 percent body fat by September 18, 2016. Many people told me this was unattainable and I should quit because I had achieved so much already. When I heard these comments, it only made me want to reach my goal even more.

For the next few months, I made sure that my macronutrients were on point and my training was always turned up to 11. With hard work and dedication, I was able to lose six pounds of fat and gain three pounds of muscle for a total loss of 258 pounds and 6.3 percent body fat!

My outlook on life has totally changed now. I want nothing more in this world than to pay it forward in any way I can to help others who would like to make lifestyle changes. I have made some great friends in the JYM Army Facebook group, and they're always willing to help anyone in need. Not only is this group knowledgeable, they are also the most positive people I have ever encountered.

When I was ready to use the JYM System combination — Pre JYM, Post JYM, and Pro JYM — it was the JYM Army members who walked me through the science and the process of taking them. Jim and Mike promote doing the right thing, which is their mission statement. They definitely care about the consumer and want them to understand the science behind their products and what makes them different than other supplements on the market. I'm looking forward to using Shred JYM, Vita JYM, ZMA JYM, and Alpha JYM in addition to what I'm currently taking. If there is one thing that has contributed to my success, it is consistency in everything I do.

Between the meal prepping, workouts, and supplements, it comes down to consistency and my determination to become something I always knew I could be. When you feel like giving up, DON'T! If you want something bad enough, it's worth the time and effort it takes to achieve it.
