New Research UPDATE!
Research on the effects of time of day and strength confirms that we tend to be stronger in the late afternoon and weaker in the mornings. This has led some trainers to suggest that since you are a bit stronger in the afternoon that training in the afternoon will lead to greater gains in muscle strength and possibly muscle size.
Researchers from The University of Jyvascyla (Finland) had untrained male subjects follow a 20-week strength training where they trained either in the morning (between 7:00 – 9:00 am) or in the late afternoon
“I’ve laid the groundwork for you by doing the research in the lab to find out what really works, designing the programs and systems, creating the content, and developing the technology. My knowledge is your power – now it’s up to you to run with it and get the results.”
