In only eight weeks, Ozzie Ortiz transformed his body and mindset with SS8—proving consistency and balance win the day.
When Osvaldo “Ozzie” Ortiz entered the 2025 SS8 (Summer Shred) Challenge on JimStoppani.com , he wasn’t just chasing aesthetics—he was fighting for his energy, mental clarity, and overall health.
“I was still working out on a semi-regular basis, but I wasn’t taking my nutrition seriously,” Ozzie says. “I felt super sluggish all the time, I was in a constant state of mental fog, and my clothes started to not fit well. Ashamedly, not looking good meant I was not feeling good.”
That turning point pushed him to take on SS8 with a new level of focus.
Ozzie relied on the Super Shredded 8 program to provide the structure he knew he needed. Without access to a gym, he leaned on his small home setup, getting creative with the exercises. He paired the SS8 nutrition plan with intermittent fasting (16/8) and even went full keto for a stretch.
“I’ll be honest and say I did cheat on occasion since I work in a busy restaurant,” he says. “It was hard not to sneak a quick snack of whatever was in front of me. But relative to how I used to be, this was a huge improvement.”
By the end of 8 weeks, Ozzie had something to be proud of.
“I completed the entire 8-week program without missing a workout,” he says. “As a result, I dropped 15 pounds of fat and lost about 5%-6% body fat. But more importantly, my energy, mental clarity, and confidence increased.”
More than the physical transformation, the mental grind tested him most. “The mental obstacles were by far the most challenging aspect,” Ozzie says. “I had to extend real grace toward myself and encourage myself to get back to work, especially when I didn’t feel it or see it.”
Ozzie’s transformation has given him a fresh outlook on fitness and life.
“This challenge and transformation served as the kickstart I needed to prove to myself that I can actually look and feel the way I’ve always wanted to,” he says.
He also found encouragement in small things, like co-workers and restaurant guests noticing how much fitter he looked.
But the biggest lesson he’s taking forward is balance . Here’s his advice to others: “Commit to a lifestyle of health and fitness; extend grace to yourself, because life happens; and give yourself permission to enjoy a double smash burger and beer on occasion. Balance with progress is the goal, not perfection.”
