How HIIT 100 Helped Reyn Sewell Break Through a Tough Year
After falling out of his lifelong fitness groove, the former American Ninja Warrior competitor turned to Jim Stoppani’s HIIT 100 Challenge to reclaim his strength, discipline, and confidence.
Reyn Sewell has always been the guy who lived in the gym. He wasn’t just fit—he was elite.
“For most of my life, I’ve been in great shape,” he says, and that’s an understatement. He’s competed on American Ninja Warrior, lined up at a World Championship obstacle course race, finished an Ironman triathlon, and even spent years working as a personal trainer. Training was part of his identity. The gym was his second home.
But about a year ago, things shifted. Life got loud, stressful, and complicated.
“Slowly but surely, I began to exercise less and less and eat more and more due to various challenging life circumstances,” Reyn says. The result was a version of himself he barely recognized—physically and mentally. “I became a weaker, lesser version of myself.”
That’s when Jim Stoppani announced the
HIIT 100 Challenge
, and Reyn felt something he hadn’t felt in a long time: a spark. “It felt like a call to change for me, so I did.”
Finding His Edge Again
Reyn didn’t ease into the program. He followed it exactly as written, committing to early mornings, strict nutrition, and the kind of discipline he used to pride himself on.
The results followed fast.
“In just 6 short weeks, I was able to drop 16.6 pounds, 4.25 inches off my waistline, and 6.8% body fat,” he says. Strength came roaring back, too—“I increased my strength by 10-30 pounds on every lift within the given rep ranges.”
That progress didn’t happen by accident. For six weeks straight, Reyn was up before dawn.
“It was tough to wake up at 4:45 a.m. every day to work out before bringing my kids to school and going to work,” he says. Cutting sugar and alcohol wasn’t easy either. But the sacrifice paid off. “All the struggle was worth it.”
Changing Even When Life Doesn’t
Here’s the part that matters most:
The challenges that derailed Reyn’s training in the first place? They’re still there. Nothing magically resolved itself. None of his circumstances changed. He changed.
“The things I allowed to derail my health haven’t gone away, but I decided to change despite the challenges,” he says. And he believes anyone else can do the same. “You might just need a little help—like me.”
Looking Ahead: On to the Next Program
Reyn isn’t treating this transformation as the finish line. It’s a restart, a reset, a re-commitment to the lifestyle he knows makes him feel and perform his best.
“I still have a ways to go before I reach my ultimate body composition goals,” he says, “but I now feel so much healthier and happier. This program was the exact reset I needed.”
Next up on his list:
Super Shredded 8
. “I’m excited to see how much leaner and stronger I get. Let the journey continue!”
That’s exactly what the JYM Army is all about: showing up, putting in the work, and refusing to quit.
