Alpha JYM Ingredient Breakdown

My breakdown of the ingredients in Alpha JYM and how they can help to promote and maintain healthier testosterone levels.

Alpha JYM Ingredient Breakdown

When it comes to Alpha JYM, my non-proprietary, fully-dosed testosterone booster (or better yet, testosterone optimizer), you likely have many questions as to whether or not it's right for you, how it works, and how to take it for best results

If you have tried any of the testosterone boosters on the market today, then you might be under the impression that natural testosterone boosters do not work—and you’d be right: The majority of the test boosters being sold today do little, if anything at all. But that's no surprise when you consider that most of these products are proprietary blends that are grossly underdosed in each ingredient.

It should be no surprise that Alpha JYM redefines the category of natural testosterone boosters. For starters, it's a non-proprietary blend that uses 6 ingredients that are all at the proper doses determined by research in the lab and in the gym. It is these 6 ingredients and the doses that I provide them in that deliver a potent synergy of mechanisms resulting in more optimal testosterone levels.

But before you waste your time and money, make sure that Alpha JYM is right for you.

Alpha JYM FAQs

Q: Who is Alpha JYM for?

A: Generally speaking, Alpha JYM, is best for males in their mid-30s or older who know (via blood or saliva testing) they have declining testosterone levels or feel that they have some of the symptoms of low testosterone.

Q: What are the symptoms of low testosterone?

A: Symptoms of low testosterone include a drop in sex drive, erectile dysfunction, lower energy levels and greater fatigue, decreased focus and concentration, depression, moodiness and insomnia, not to mention a gradual loss of muscle mass and strength, with a greater gain of body fat, despite working out.

Q: What are the benefits of taking Alpha JYM?

A: From a physiological standpoint, the ingredients in Alpha JYM are designed to help your body produce greater amounts of testosterone if your own testosterone production has declined. It also helps to keep less of that testosterone from leaving your body, which further helps to increase your testosterone levels.

Alpha JYM will also free up more testosterone from its carrier protein in the blood, sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). This freed-up testosterone is the most critical testosterone in the body, as it needs to be freed from SHBG before it can perform its many functions. Alpha JYM also prevents testosterone from being converted to estrogen and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body.

From a noticeable benefits perspective, this means that you will likely experience a boost in your sex drive and performance. You will also likely notice that your energy levels are better, as is your mental focus, mood, and even overall drive to get things done. And of course, you should notice some increases in strength and muscle mass, with a decrease in body fat.

However, don't expect to gain 20 pounds of lean muscle in a month and increase your bench press strength by over 50 pounds just from taking Alpha JYM. It is not an anabolic steroid. It is simply designed to optimize your testosterone levels and the utilization of this hormone.

Q: How long would I have to take Alpha JYM to start noticing these benefits?

A: Generally speaking, about 4-6 weeks. However, as with all ingredients and all people, results may vary. Some may notice improvements in less than one week.

Q: Can a man under the age of 30 years old get any benefit from Alpha JYM?

A: Yes, men who are in their late 20s to early 30s may derive some benefit from Alpha JYM. Although in most men, testosterone levels don't drop until in the mid 30s, the stress levels of work, and environmental factors, can lower test levels in much younger men. Even periods of intense training can lower testosterone levels.

As I discussed above, Alpha JYM is designed to free up more testosterone, which allows it to be put to work. So even those with decent testosterone levels could experience a benefit from higher free testosterone. There is also the benefit of less testosterone being excreted from the body, which could further improve total testosterone levels. And of course, the inhibition in the conversion of testosterone to estrogen and DHT could be further benefit.

All that said, Alpha JYM is not a critical supplement for those under 30. It would be safe to try, but I would recommend you focus on the more critical supplements.

Q: How do you take Alpha JYM for best results?

A: On workout days, take one dose (3 capsules) of Alpha JYM 30-60 minutes before workouts. Yes, you can take it with Pre JYM and/or Pro JYM. Take a second dose (3 capsules) in the morning or at night (about an hour or two before bed) with food, whichever is furthest from your pre-workout dose.

On rest days from the gym, take one dose in the morning and one dose at night with meals. None of the other JYM supplements interfere with Apha JYM, so feel free to take any of them at the same time as your Alpha JYM dose.

Q: Do I need to cycle Alpha JYM?

A: No, there is no real need to cycle Alpha JYM. The concept of "cycling" testosterone boosters is based on the negative feedback loop system that regulates testosterone levels in the body. When testosterone levels get very high, the testosterone influences areas in the brain and pituitary gland that essentially lead to a lowering of testosterone production.

So test boosters are recommended to be cycled to prevent this negative feedback loop from decreasing testosterone production. But most natural testosterone-boosting supplements do not cause a high enough boost in test levels to really have much of a negative impact on testosterone production. So feel free to take Alpha JYM for as long as you like. Some testosterone boosters may be needed to be cycled because they contained questionable ingredients that may be bad for your health when taken for too long.

This is definitely not the case with Alpha JYM. In fact, it's the opposite. Most of the ingredients in Alpha JYM provide clear health benefits that have been shown in clinical studies. Alpha JYM is the safest testosterone booster available.

Q: Can I take any other testosterone-boosting ingredients with Alpha JYM?

A: You don't need to stack Alpha JYM with any other test-boosting supplements. Everything that I have found to work effectively and safely, without causing any adverse effects, I put in Alpha JYM at the proper dose. However, you can take it with one of your other favorite ingredients if you really prefer.

One such ingredient I get asked a lot about is D-aspartic acid. D-aspartic acid is an amino acid that has been shown in one study to raise testosterone levels by about 40% in those with compromised test levels. However, a more recent study found no such increase for those with normal testosterone levels. The main reason why I left D-aspartic acid out of Alpha JYM is that most people report severe stomach issues when taking it, such as stomach cramps, gas, and diarrhea. Plus, while it may work okay for some, others see no benefit from taking it. I did not want Alpha JYM to cause stomach distress for many users while offering minimal benefit to many. But again, feel free to take D-aspartic acid along with Alpha JYM if you really prefer.

Q: Can women take Alpha JYM?

A: Alpha JYM is designed to optimize testosterone levels in men. However, none of the ingredients pose any health risk to females. In fact, most of the ingredients in Alpha JYM provide health benefits that are good for both genders.

Some of the ingredients in Alpha JYM have even been shown to result in a slight increase in testosterone levels in females. This is mainly due to the influence on the adrenal glands.

Alpha JYM also frees up more testosterone from SHBG, which could be beneficial to a woman. Plus, Alpha JYM can help to convert estrogen into weaker forms that are less harmful in the body. Of course, with all that said, I would not recommend that women take Alpha JYM.

Q: Who should NOT take Alpha JYM?

A: If you are under the age of 21, do not use Alpha JYM. Those under 21 are still undergoing development of their endocrine systems, which involve the regulation of testosterone and estrogen. It is not a good idea to take any product that may influence your hormone levels until after these systems are fully developed.

What Sets Alpha JYM Apart from Other Testosterone Boosters?

Now that you know whether or not it may be right for you, let me break each ingredient down so that you can better appreciate the real science behind my testosterone optimizer, Alpha JYM:

Fenugreek

Each serving of Alpha JYM provides 500 mg of fenugreek extract, standardized for 50% saponins. Since you take Alpha JYM twice a day, that means you get a total of 1000 mg (1 gram) of fenugreek extract and specifically, 500 mg per day of the saponins. Not only will you not find a testosterone booster that provides a full 1000 mg of fenugreek extract per day, but you will definitely not find one that provides a full 500 mg of the saponins. It's these furostanolic saponins that are the main active ingredients in fenugreek that provide the testosterone-boosting effect. These phytochemicals work in the body to increase the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary gland. Luteinizing hormone travels via the blood to the testicles where it influences the Leydig cells (the specialized cells in the testicles that convert cholesterol into testosterone) to increase testosterone production.

Research shows that men supplementing with fenugreek for several weeks experience an increase in testosterone levels. Numerous studies also confirm that that men supplementing with fenugreek experience an increase in sex drive and sexual satisfaction. In addition to stimulating the release of LH, some evidence also suggests that fenugreek directly stimulates the Leydig cells of the testicles to produce more testosterone by increasing the activity of key enzymes involved in converting cholesterol into testosterone. Fenugreek also appears to further enhance testosterone levels through its antioxidant properties. The testicles are quite susceptible to oxidative damage, which can hamper their ability to produce testosterone by decreasing the activity of the enzymes involved in converting cholesterol into testosterone. Fenugreek helps prevent oxidative damage to maintain higher activity of these enzymes and keep testosterone production firing at full capacity.

Fenugreek not only works to increase total testosterone production but also frees up more testosterone from its major carrier protein in the blood, sex-hormone binding globulin (SHBG). This protein allows testosterone to circulate in the blood. However, SHBG holds onto testosterone, often preventing it from leaving the blood and getting to the tissues in the body that need it, such as muscle fibers. In the muscle fibers, testosterone binds to androgen receptors, which instigates processes that lead to muscle growth. By freeing up more testosterone from SHBG, fenugreek allows for higher levels of free, bioavailable testosterone, which can be put to work in the body.

Research also suggests that fenugreek is effective at reducing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestoserone (DHT) and estrogen. What the research has shown in this area is that while fenugreek increased total testosterone levels, the levels of DHT and estrogen did not increase to a similar level as testosterone did. This means that less of the testosterone was converting to estrogen and DHT.

Eurycoma longifolia

Each serving of Alpha JYM delivers 100 mg of Eurycoma longifolia extract (200 mg per day total) that is concentrated at a 100:1 extract. That means it provides 100 times the active ingredients, such as the quassinoid eurycomanone.

Also known as Tongkat Ali, Eurycoma has been used to increase male virility and sexual prowess for centuries in Malaysia. Several studies have shown that supplementing with Eurycoma significantly raises both total and free testosterone levels while simultaneously lowering cortisol. A higher testosterone to cortisol ratio has long been considered a marker of an increased anabolic state. One study reported that males with declining testosterone levels given 200 mg of eurycoma extract for one month had an increase in blood testosterone levels of almost 50%.

Eurycoma works to enhance testosterone levels by a few different mechanisms. The first one is through direct stimulation of the Leydig cells in the testicles to increase testosterone production. Eurycoma also inhibits the conversion of testosterone into estrogen. One study reported that the active quaasinoid eurycomanone inhibited the aromatase enzyme to decrease estrogen production and increase testosterone production in the Leydig cells. Eurycoma also frees up more testosterone lowering SHBG. One study even reported that both men and women over age 55 supplementing with Eurycoma extract for five weeks experienced an increase in free testosterone thanks to lower SHBG levels. They also made significant gains in strength.

Ashwagandha

Each serving of Alpha JYM provides 500 mg of ashwagandha root concentrated at a 5:1 extract. With two doses per day, that's 1000 mg (1 gram) of concentrated ashwagandha. That's equivalent to 5000 mg (5 grams) of pure ashwagandha root powder, which is the dose provided in the research showing positive benefits on testosterone levels.

Known scientifically as Withania somnifera, the ashwagandha herb has been used in ancient Indian Ayurveda and Unani systems of medicine for many centuries. This shrub plant is well known for its adaptogenic effects, which means that it helps the body better deal with stress, such as from exercise, which can help you recover better and grow more.

Research shows that ashwagandha also works well to boost testosterone levels. Indian researchers reported that males with normal testosterone levels supplementing with ashwagandha for three months experienced a 15% increase in their testosterone levels at the end of the study. They also found that subjects with low testosterone levels at the start of the study increased their testosterone levels by over 40% after three months. In addition, those with low sperm count also experienced an increase in sperm count and sperm motility.

Other research shows that ashwagandha supplementation leads to an increase in testosterone with a concomitant decrease in cortisol. The main way ashwagandha raises testosterone levels is by reducing the amount of reactive oxygen species present in the Leydig cells. This better preserves the activity of key enzymes involved in testosterone production.

Research also suggests that Ashwagandha may help to directly aid fat loss–that is, in addition to the fat loss benefit provided by having higher testosterone. The majority of the benefits appear to be due to the potent antioxidants found in the herb, as well as its ability to lower cortisol levels. In fact, the testosterone-boosting benefits of Ashwagandha come from its ability to protect the testosterone-producing cells in the testicles from damage by free radicals. Research confirms that preventing this damage helps to optimize the testosterone-producing ability of those cells.

Here's more fat-burning evidence: A 2016 study published by Indian researchers suggested that supplementing with Ashwagandha can boost fat loss, at least in people reporting high stress in their life. (And really, who doesn’t have a lot of stress in their lives?)

The researchers gave subjects 300 mg of Ashwagandha twice a day for eight weeks. They reported that the group supplementing with Ashwagandha experienced more than twice the weight loss as those getting a placebo. The greater weight loss was attributed to fewer food cravings and an ability to maintain better eating habits (less emotional eating, etc.) than those taking the placebo.

Reducing stress can not only have a big impact on your eating habits and fat loss, but also your strength and muscle mass gains. Research shows that subjects reporting higher stress levels gain far less strength and muscle mass on a weight-lifting program compared to those reporting low stress. And those reporting depressive symptoms exhibit less muscle force than those not depressed, despite similar muscle activation.

Damiana

Each dose of Alpha JYM provides 500 mg of damiana, for a total of 1,000 mg (1 gram) per day. Known scientifically as Turnera diffusa, damiana is a shrub native to Mexico and Central and South America that has been used for centuries as an aphrodisiac.

Damiana works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone into estrogen. In the body, testosterone is normally converted to estrogen via the aromatase enzyme. Research confirms that damiana is a potent aromatase inhibitor, due primarily to the active ingredients pinocembrin and acacetin. This is particularly important as we age since aromatase levels rise with aging. Research also suggests that damiana exerts a positive effect on nitric oxide (NO) production, which can further benefit sexual performance.

Diindolylmethane (DIM)

Each dose of Alpha JYM provides 250 mg of 3,3'-diindolylmethane (DIM) for a total of 500 mg daily. This naturally occurring plant alkaloid is formed in the digestive tract from indole glucosinate, which is found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and kale. Digesting these foods leads to the formation of DIM.

Research confirms that DIM provides protection against certain cancers and has a positive influence on estrogen metabolism. DIM works in the body to convert the problematic form of estrogen into a non-problematic form. In the body, estrogen is broken down into metabolites. The three main metabolites are 2-hydroxyestrone, 4-hydroxyestrone, and 16-hydroxyestrone. These metabolites can have stronger or weaker estrogenic activity. The 2-hydroxyestrone has the weakest estrogenic activity. DIM helps to convert more estrogen into mainly the weaker form of 2-hydroxyestrone.In other words, DIM helps to convert estrogen into a weaker form that doesn't have the negative impact associated with estrogen in both males and females.

DIM also works to inhibit DHT from stimulating prostate specific antigen (PSA). This helps to protect from prostate cancer.

Quercetin

Each dose of Alpha JYM delivers 250 mg of quercetin for a total daily dose of 500 mg. Quercetin is found in many food sources, such as onions, apples, tea, broccoli, citrus fruits, grapes and even capers. It's been found to help reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers, and recent research has also shown that quercetin can help you avoid catching the flu as well as boost blood flow to muscles.

Research even suggests that quercetin can increase endurance during exercise. In one study, University of South Carolina (Columbia) researchers reported that the endurance benefit stems from quercetin's ability to increase mitochondrial biogenesis. That simply means it can boost the number of mitochondria in cells in such areas as muscles and the brain. The mitochondria are basically our body's mini power plants; they work in all kinds of cells to produce energy. Increasing their numbers via quercetin may not only help you run longer and get more reps with a given weight in the gym, but it may also enhance brain function.

More recent research on quercetin suggests that this powerhouse can also help to maintain higher testosterone levels, which is the main reason it's contained in Alpha JYM.

Allow me to get a bit scientific here. In the body, an enzyme called UGT2B17 converts testosterone into a molecule known as testosterone glucuronide. Once testosterone is converted into testosterone glucuronide, it's excreted from the body by the kidneys. In other words, you piss out your testosterone. This lowers your testosterone level, which is not a good thing if you're trying to maximize muscle size and strength while also minimizing body fat. It's also not great if your sex drive is something you care about.

Kingston University (London) researchers showed with in vitro (outside of the body) studies that red wine (independent of the alcohol content) inhibited UGT2B17's ability to convert testosterone into testosterone glucuronide. When they tested specific components in red wine for this ability, they reported that quercetin supplied the greatest inhibition of the UGT2B17 enzyme.

Although the researchers didn't measure testosterone levels in subjects drinking red wine or taking quercetin supplements, the fact that red wine and quercetin were shown to significantly inhibit the UGT2B17 enzyme is a very promising way to keep your testosterone levels maximized. And since quercetin provides a host of other benefits, it's not a bad idea to supplement with it.

Quercetin can help you avoid getting sick, reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer, boost your muscle endurance, enhance brain function, and keep your testosterone levels maximized, which can help you build more muscle and strength, lose more body fat and have a greater sex drive.
